Moral Distress and Injury in Youth Peer Work

Moral Distress and Injury in Youth Peer Work

from $0.00

Join us on August 18th from 10-11:30am for a Wraparound coaching workshop

While it is rarely discussed, moral distress and injury are near-certain consequences of youth peer work. Additionally, work in Wraparound requires exposure to multiple child-serving systems, which increases the likelihood of occurrence. In this 1.5-hour coaching workshop, participants will learn various causes of moral distress and factors that contribute to distress becoming injury. Through lecture and discussion, participants will identify interventions that are supportive for potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs). Participants will examine the stress continuum and select supportive tools for their own stress and PMIEs. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to integrate the knowledge of moral injury into their peer work within Wraparound.

Learning Objectives

  • By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    • Define the four types of moral distress and moral injury

    • Identify signs of moral distress and when they escalate into moral injury

    • Utilize stress intervention tools for potentially morally injurious events

This workshop provides 1.5 contact hours for Traditional Health Workers upon completion! ✨*

*This workshop is currently being reviewed by the THW Commission for approval. If the workshop is not approved by the launch date, CEUs will be provided retroactively upon approval.
