Out of the Silo: Community Collaboration for YSS

Out of the Silo: Community Collaboration for YSS
Thursday, August 20th, 10:00-11:30
Held virtually via Zoom
Working community outreach can feel isolating as a youth peer.
This interactive training seeks to create a space for Youth Support Specialists to share what has worked for them, and what has gotten in the way, when building strong community partnerships. Participants will collectively define what impact means in the scope of community partnership, collectively identify the greatest barriers to engagement, and collectively brainstorm ways to break down the barriers they identified.
Participants will:
Define what "impact" means in the context of community partnerships and identify three
personal indicators of partnership success
Analyze common barriers to community engagement and evaluate strategies to address
them
Apply collaborative techniques to co-develop solutions with community partners during
facilitated group activities
Assess their current communication style and develop personalized communication
strategies that are both positive and direct when addressing challenges with partners
