Harm Reduction: Foundations and Considerations for Working with Youth (OHA-Sponsored Seats!)
Join us on October 24th at 10am-11:30am PST for this youth-centered workshop on harm reduction!
This interactive workshop introduces the foundations of harm reduction and how it can be applied in youth support work. Participants will learn about the history, core principles, and practical strategies of harm reduction—especially when supporting youth around stigmatized behaviors and experiences. Through discussion and hands-on activities, you’ll build confidence using harm reduction approaches, and practice responding to common questions from caregivers, coworkers, and community members.
You’ll learn…
What harm reduction is and its historical roots and guiding principles
The benefits of applying harm reduction approaches in youth peer support settings
How to apply harm reduction strategies to stigmatized behaviors and life experiences in a nonjudgmental, youth-affirming way
How to create safer, more welcoming environments for youth to discuss risky behaviors and choices
All our workshops happen virtually via zoom. You will receive an email from us with your zoom link after your purchase.
This workshop provides 1.5 continuing education credits for Traditional Health Workers upon completion!
