Clara grew up in Portland, Oregon. After she graduated high school 2012, Clara dedicated a year of her life to AmeriCorps NCCC service. She worked alongside Federal Emergency Management Agency as a first-responder for disaster relief across the United States, including Hurricane Sandy relief in New York and New Jersey. Following the year of AmeriCorps service, Clara earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at University of Oregon, minoring in Spanish and Nonprofit Management. Clara first joined the Youth ERA team in college, where she was able to connect her studies of nonprofit fundraising and administration to a real (really cool) nonprofit organization. Seeking to focus on school and college community activities, Clara worked at the UO Outdoor Program as the Bike Program Coordinator for two years, and worked as a part-time farmer at Food for Lane County’s Youth Farm. Upon graduating in June 2017, Clara has rededicated time, love, and energy back to Youth ERA. When she isn’t working, Clara enjoys trail running, writing music, and random (or meticulously planned) travel adventures on her bike!
